Peeled, cored and sliced cooking apples 6 cups 1.5L
Granulated sugar 3/4 cup 175 mL

All-purpose flour 1 1/4 cups 300 mL
Brown sugar, packed 3/4 cup 175 mL
Salt 1/2 tsp. 2 mL
Hard margarine (or butter), cut up 1/2 cup 125 mL

Place apple slices in ungreased shallow 3 quart (3 L) casserole. Sprinkle sugar over top.

Streusel Topping: Combine flour, brown sugar and salt in medium bowl. Cut in margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Scatter evenly over apple. Press down lightly. Bake, uncovered, in 375ºF (190ºC) oven for about 40 minutes until apple is tender. Serves 8.
