The store matched donations of $1,754.00 to the High Prairie & District Sports Complex giving them a total of $3,508.00! It was a great day for a BBQ with over 1,500 burgers served. We also helped to sell $20,500.00 in tickets for the local lakeside cottage raffle.

Brooks - In May we participated in the Ride 4 life on the Big Bike for Heart & Stroke. It was fantastic to see everyone come out to support this event. We raised quite a bit of money and we’re proud to say we’re a part of the Freson team on days like this. Thanks so much to everyone who participated and all the donations. |

Over Easter, our store had a contest to see how many paper Easter eggs we could sell to raise money for Easter Seals. Our store sold a total of 1653 eggs, raising $3,306.00! Well done everyone. Congrats to Diane Ash who was our #1 seller & won a jersey for selling 700 eggs.
Another charity that Freson has supported recently is Kids With Cancer. The Grande Prairie RCMP teamed up with some Freson team members and their families to raise money by getting their heads shaved. Between both stores in Grande Prairie we raised nearly $20,000.00! Great job everyone!!!

Hinton Hill - Damian Ewaski & Carol Oksanen organized a “Ladies Night” to raise money for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. We closed the store for three hours on May 12th. We sold tickets to the ladies only for $20.00. We held a fashion show put on by Ricki’s & Bootlegger and was MC’d by Patti Shea from Fox radio. We had The Loft Spa in the store doing manicures, massages and make-up applications. Throughout the store we had various vendors doing demos and our wine & cheese booth was a big hit with a long line up. Every lady went home with a full Freson “goodie bag” and a carnation. We had over 150 ladies attend and everyone had a great time all while raising over $4,000.00 for the Breast Cancer Foundation. |

| February 2004. Freson IGA and
with the support of our +900 Team Members played a key role
in the success of these games. We were proud to provide all
food and beverages to over 3200 athletes and coaches –
what a great event. What made us extremely proud is that we
were able to meet young adults and these families from many
towns across Alberta including ones where we had stores. The
Competition was keen, the camaraderie was outstanding and we,
in Peace River, were proud to do our part. Well done Freson
Team – well done 2004 Alberta Winter Games organizing
group and well done Athletes. |

Doug
Lovsin presented a cheque to Dr. Boris Nahornick of the Drumheller
& Area Health Foundation for the amount of $13,500.00 –
to help raise money towards the purchase of a CAT scanner. This
money was raised from the Freson Family Fest as part of Freson
Market’s 50th Anniversary Celebration. The day of family
fun was located in the Parking Lot of the IGA on Saturday, June
11th with lots of family fun. Imagine an amusement park filled
with events such as; the Royal Tyrrell Museum’s inflatable
village, cow milking contest, Jurassic sling shot, face painting,
local entertainment all day and much much more.

We started our Soccer program
in spring of 2001 here in Peace River. There was a need here
for sponsorship of this kid’s event and Freson offered
to help. The first year we sponsored all the kids that played
and bought 210 T-shits that the kids could use and keep. This
year we are up to 488 kids however we now have half of our stores
doing the same thing in other towns. This year we will sponsor
approximately 3600 kids in soccer. It’s a great sport
– the kids play hard – have fun and are out of Mom’s
hair for an hour or two – twice a week. Freson is committed
to Minor Sports and Kids Events – from soccer, hockey,
Ukrainian dance, swimming, Cub Scouts, Girl Guides; well the
list goes on. As a business, we have an obligation to participate
in our community and support Kids Events. |
